Norman Broadbent Executive Search acquired by Garner PLC
04 Dec 2008
Norman Broadbent, a leading name for over 25 years in Executive Search, Interim and Leadership consultancy services, has been bought by Garner Plc.
The acquisition makes Garner Plc group one of the largest providers of board level executive search services in the UK, with a team of more than 65 people between the two brands. The group already provides generalist executive search, including CEOs and HR directors, with a dedicated HR practice, through its boutique provider Garner International.
Norman Broadbent and Garner International will continue to operate as separate brands and businesses under the Plc ownership, led by Andrew Garner as Chairman. The move will create an international platform for both businesses with UK operations in London, Aberdeen and Leeds and overseas operations in Spain, Dubai, Canada and North America.
Garner Plc Chairman, Andrew Garner said: “For me this was too exciting a prospect not to take up. Norman Broadbent had always been a name to be reckoned with in boardrooms across the world. It has great experience and talent, which has I think been under utilised in recent years.
We intend to re-establish this formidable brand and expand its interim management practice and leadership consultancy services – which include an award winning diversity practice and leading executive coaching. This complements the specialist HR practice, transformational business focus and change management capability within the Garner International operation.
Some would say this is a brave move in the current climate, but there is no better time than in an economic downturn to provide boardrooms with the wherewithal and talent to improve performance. In a tough climate you need the best, and as an enlarged group, that is what we aim to provide.â€Â
Andrew Garner is a former Chairman and CEO of Boyden, one of the world’s leading search firms, which he led for seven years up to 1996. He founded Garner International in 1997 and provides advice to a number of FTSE Boards.
