Case Studies

Leisure (FTSE 250) Challenge:

With a new CEO in place the business needed to find an HRD who could take a fresh look at the organisation as it moved from its traditional roots to a digital offer

Solution: We searched across all sectors to find an energetic and resilient individual who would bring a more inclusive focus to the Executive and upgrade the HR team for the future change requirements

Result: By looking in non-obvious places we identified a candidate who not only fitted the brief in terms of capability, but was also passionate about the product

Financial Services (Mutual)

Challenge: A newly appointed CEO approached us to find for him a forward-thinking HRD who could replace the long-serving incumbent. The remit for the new HRD focused on modernising and professionalising the function

Solution: We researched not only the Financial Services Sector but also looked at candidates who would be able to adapt their big company approaches to work in a smaller environment. We targeted regional players as well as London-based candidates.

Result: The candidate selected did come from a financial services background but also had the experience of working in professional services – the combination of both brought an excellent cultural fit.

Pharmaceutical (FTSE 100)

Challenge: This FTSE pharma business invited us to conduct an initial mapping exercise for two key roles on their HRLT then move to full search. Both required global research and candidate approaches identifying individuals in Senior Global Business Partnering roles and HR Service Delivery in highly commercial and change orientated environments.  Solution: We provided a range of candidates, all diverse and from backgrounds other than pharma to bring a genuine degree of difference and richness of thinking to the senior HR team

Result: The appointments were made with neither candidate having a pharma background. Following this work the HR Practice went on to deliver 5 further searches for the business the following year with those placed from  culturally diverse backgrounds – Chinese, Swedish, Slovakian, British and Danish.

Healthcare

Challenge: The CPO of this international healthcare organisation operating in excess of 150 countries and an extensive customer base invited us to search for a Global Talent Director to join their HRLT. Specific attention needed to be given to genuine commerciality around talent solutions, ability to influence the talent thinking in a fairly federated model and gravitas to face in to the CEO, Board and ExCo on a regular basis

Solution: Given our long and successful track record in talent search we could quickly draw upon our knowledge and network, with an ease to soft reference

Result: The CPO, CEO and other Board members were delighted with the shortlist candidates and selected an individual who has performed exceptionally well. Since this piece of work the organisation has since engaged us to deliver two other senior HR searches and two other roles in other parts of the business.
