Education

Knowledge has a price and a value

The education world has altered almost beyond recognition in recent years, driven by changing funding regimes, the need for greater accessibility and the accepted value and importance of the knowledge-based economy. At all levels, from secondary schooling through to vocational training and world-class research and teaching in universities and business schools, the imperatives of high-quality work, clear strategic vision and sound management are common themes.

The competition for excellence in educational leadership has become fierce and increasingly international. The appointment of a new Vice Chancellor, Dean or Principal will substantially determine an institution's future, and the correct blend of skills, knowledge and experience required in these roles needs to be carefully sought and thoroughly evaluated.

Our track record in college and university education is supplemented by firsthand knowledge of the policy, funding and regulatory bodies which shape their environment. We also understand that academic excellence alone will not guarantee an institution's success. As well as filling numerous high-profile academic roles, for example, we have also helped clients bring in specialist non-academic managers - for example, in disciplines such as marketing and finance - to strengthen top teams and add a fresh perspective to the leadership team.

Our approach is one of meticulous professionalism coupled with a flair for creative, lateral thinking. We recognise the differing expectations of governing bodies, academics and professional managers, and therefore deploy not only our search skills, but also our HR consultancy and interim leadership practices to help clients build balanced, professional leadership teams.
