The following appointments have all taken place during the last few months, covering the full breadth of the wider insurance and risk marketplace.

  • Guy Carpenter & Company has today announced the formation of a new Global Capital Solutions Group and a series of new leadership appointments related to the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group(JLT) acquisition. These appointments will become effective upon closing of the transaction between Guy Carpenter’s parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies, and JLT, which remains subject to the receipt of certain antitrust and financial regulatory approvals. The new appointments reflect ongoing strategic efforts to align and integrate the capabilities of both Guy Carpenter(GC) and JLT Re, which will enhance the combined entity’s ability to deliver powerful services, solutions and value to clients. The Group will be made up of two components, Global Capital Solutions and GC Securities, both reporting to Priebe:

 

  • -Ed Hochberg, CEO of North America at JLT Re, will become head of the Global Capital Solutions practice, advising clients on capital, reinsurance optimization and risk transfer solutions. Hochberg will also support the overall integration of JLT Re’s North America business with Guy Carpenter.

 

  • Shiv Kumar will continue as President of GC Securities, responsible for the insurance-linked securities and M&A practices.

 

  • Tim Gardner, CEO of GC North America, and John Trace, president of GC US, will continue in their leadership roles.

 

  • Keith Harrison, CEO of UK & Europe at JLT Re, will become head of London North America for GC.

 

  • In this role he will lead the London division of GC’s North America business, reporting to Gardner. Harrison will also lead the formation of a new London-based operation to service and source business non-affiliated with Guy Carpenter, which will be overseen by Peter Hearn, president and CEO of Guy Carpenter.. Harrison will be responsible for new business production, client management, and delivering advisory, growth and placement expertise, as well as access to the London Market for North American clients. Harrison will join the Guy Carpenter Executive Committee, as well as support the overall integration of JLT Re’s UK and European businesses with Guy Carpenter.

 

  • Simon Keeley, currently head of London North America for GC, and Mark Higgins, currently head of London North America for JLT Re, will both report to Harrison and form part of the senior leadership team that will integrate the businesses and position the combined entity for continued growth.

 

  • James Nash will continue as CEO of Guy Carpenter International.

 

  • Jeremy Fox, CEO of JLT Re Asia Pacific, will become chairman of GC Asia Pacific, reporting to Tony Gallagher, CEO of GC Asia Pacific. In this role, Fox will be responsible for servicing multinational clients in the region and producing new business, as well as working with Gallagher on designing and delivering key strategic priorities for the region.

 

  • Kevin Fisher, currently CEO of GC Global Specialties, will become chairman of GC UK & Specialties. Fisher will continue working with the leadership team to deliver enhanced client solutions across the UK and Global Specialties platform.

 

  • James Boyce, currently deputy CEO Global Specialties and head of Non-Marine Specialties at GC, will become CEO of Global Specialties. Boyce will report to Hearn and will join the Guy Carpenter Executive Committee.

 

  • Bradley Maltese, deputy CEO of UK & Europe at JLT Re, will become vice chairman of Global Specialties, reporting to Boyce. In addition, Maltese will work with the senior leadership team to further develop and grow the Global Specialties client offering, and will also play a key role in executing the integration of the JLT Re Specialty practices with Guy Carpenter.

 

  • Richard Morgan, managing director, GC Global Specialties, will become head of Non-Marine Specialties, reporting to Boyce.

 

  • Fisher, Boyce, and Morgan’s appointments are effective immediately.

 

  • David Flandro, Global head of Analytics at JLT Re, will become Global head of Economics and Franchise Risk Advisory, reporting to Rob Bentley, CEO of GC Global Strategic Advisory. In this role.

 

  • Flandro will oversee GC’s global thought leadership, business intelligence, ratings advisory and market intelligence units.

 

  • Vicky Carter, vice chair of GC Global Strategic Advisory, will continue in her leadership role.

  • Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced it is expanding into the property construction insurance market in the UK and Ireland and has appointed Simeon Seamer to lead the effort as head of Property Construction, UK and Ireland.

 

  • Aegon has hired KPMG partner Nick Rodway as its new chief technology officer.

 

  • Lloyds of London insurer Beazley Plc on Thursday named Sally Lake as its finance director, replacing Martin Bride. Bride, who has been with the company since 2009, will step down in May, Beazley said.

 

  • LGIM Real Assets (LGIM RA) announces that it has hired Jonathan Ord, formerly Investment Director, at Local Pensions Partnership Investments (LPPI) to lead its infrastructure equity investment strategy.

 

  • London-based Tasker Insurance Group Ltd. appointed Jonathan Webber its new CFO, Insurance Business reported. Webber, who previously served as finance director for Marsh UK Ltd., will be based in the group’s offices in London and in Dartford.

 

  • Prudential UK & Europe has appointed former SimplyBiz man Tom Hegarty to head up its new self-employed advice firm model, part of the Prudential Financial Planning business.

 

  • Michel Khalaf will become MetLife Inc.’s president and CEO on May 1, succeeding Steven Kandarian.

 

  • Liberty Mutual Re has appointed Uwe Haug as head of Underwriting Strategy and Business Development for its global financial risks reinsurance business.

 

  • The supervisory board of insurance group Munich Re has appointed Nick Gartside as CIO and member of the board of management, following his departure from J. P. Morgan Asset Management last week.

 

  • ZURICH (BestWire) – Zurich Insurance Group said it has appointed Graham Wood to the newly created role of head of regional business development for accident and health.

 

  • K. digital bank Monzo is planning to appoint Gary Hoffman, a former executive at Barclays and subsequent CEO of nationalized lender Northern Rock, as chairman.

 

  • LV= has appointed former Aviva retirement specialist Clive Bolton as managing director for life and pensions, subject to regulatory approval.

 

  • Managing director of sales and distribution for VitalityLife VitalityInvest has appointed VitalityLife managing director, Justin Taurog, as its deputy CEO.

 

  • Aviva Investors has hired Janus Henderson Investors’ Rachel Harris as senior investment director for credit. Harris joined Aviva Investors at the start of this year, having spent three years at Janus Henderson

 

  • Amelie Breitburd has been appointed chief financial officer of Axa UK and Ireland. Breitburd began her new post on Jan. 1, 2019 and is replacing Bertrand Poupart-Lafarge, who will become CFO at Axa France

 

  • Neil Strickland was appointed director of RSA Group plc’s new commercial customer experience function following a refocusing of the group’s Global Risk Solutions business.

 

  • AIG Life Limited (U.K.), a division of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG), announced the appointment of Philip Willcock as CEO.

 

  • Lloyd’s of London on Thursday named Sonja Rottiers chief executive of its European Union hub in Brussels.

 

  • Ali Crossley will become Legal & General Insurance managing director, partnerships, on 4 March 2019.

 

  • Hiscox Ltd. named Bob Thaker CEO of its U.K. operations, effective March 2019. Thaker, whose appointment is subject to relevant regulatory approvals, succeeds Steve Langan, who became CEO of Hiscox USA earlier in the year.

 

  • Swiss Re AG (VTX: SREN) has said that it has hired a former executive of Aviva Plc (AV.L).

 

  • The firm has appointed Mark Hodges as chief executive of Aviva UK Life from 2005 to 2009 and Aviva UK from 2010 to 2011, as CEO of its UK closed book business, ReAssure. The appointment is effective March 01 next year.

 

  • Richard Morley, who took on the role of acting finance director following the death of Kim Arif in April, has been appointed finance director of NFU Mutual.

 

  • AIB has appointed a new chief executive – but the new boss will still be bound by the Government’s €500,000 pay cap. Colin Hunt, who joined the bank in 2016, will take over from current CEO Bernard Byrne.

 

  • Legal & General has appointed Paul Miller as managing director at the group’s investment arm, Legal & General Capital.

 

  • Global consulting firm Mercer has appointed Bala Viswanathan as its Chief Operating Officer. A former CEO of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Groups UK & Ireland Employee Benefits, he will report to President & CEO Julio Portalatin.

 

  • RSA Group plc (“RSA”) today announces the appointment of Mark Marshall as Managing Director of RSA’s subsidiary, Insurance Corporation of the Channel Islands (ICCI), subject to regulatory approval.

 

  • Hyperion Insurance Group has announced that Richard Houghton will join the business as Interim Group Chief Financial Officer.

 

  • London-based insurtech company Concirrus has appointed Nick Roscoe as its chief operating officer (COO) as it looks to drive change through the adoption of technology in the marine insurance market.

 

  • Zurich Insurance Group said it has appointed Helen Pickford as U.K. chief financial officer.
  • Munich Re London (Life Branch) said it appointed Mari-Lizette Malherbe as chief executive officer of the U.K. and Irish life reinsurance business.
  • Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS) has announced that Sinéad Browne will assume the role of AGCS UK CEO in addition to her responsibilities as chief regions and markets officer, subject to regulatory approval. Tracey Hunt has been appointed deputy CEO for AGCS UK.
  • RSA Group has announced the appointment of Geoff Jones as Director of their Specialty and Wholesale unit, part of RSA’s Global Risk Solutions business.
  • Willis Towers Watson has expanded their analytics and digital transformation team with the appointment of Iain Whittingham as a Senior Director in the company’s Insurance Consulting and Technology business.
  • Aegon has appointed former Fidelity man Ed Dymott to its newly-created role of managing director for transformation, innovation and growth.
  • Legal & General Investment Management has appointed Sonja Laud as deputy chief investment officer and William Riley as head of solutions, joining in January.
  • Marsh & McLennan Companies’ wholly-owned subsidiary Mercer has appointed Benoit Hudon as its new head of wealth in the UK. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval
  • France’s Axa has appointed Amelie Breitburd as CFO of U.K. and Ireland.
